Why Toy Horses Aren't only Horse Toys Anymore

ufree horse - In approximately 1950, the first toy horses were introduced in the usa. Since that time, these toys have carried on growing in popularity. On the way, toy horses became not only a horse toy. They was a popular hobby that features horse painting, photographing, prop and tack making, exhibiting and collecting valuable model horses.

zippy pets - Breyer capitalized about the growing collector hobby by introducing an interest magazine inside the 1970's. Chances are they launched the first limited edition artist resins model horses within the 1980's. From the 1990's, the collectors hobby blossomed and continues to be popular today. Limited edition artist resins are released with limited editions of a few hundred pieces, or in some instances only 50 pieces. These pieces usually become unattainable quickly. After these toy horses are sold out, they increase significantly in value within the collector's market.

While Breyer caters to the massive toy market plus the collector's market, Stone focuses read more about exclusive edition collectibles. Other brands also entered the market including Hagen-Renaker Horses. Today, Schleich and Safari also offer detailed, hand-painted model horses. However, Schleich and Safari tend to be more popular as toys as opposed to collectibles, perhaps because of the smaller size of their 1:24 scale horses when compared to larger 1:9 scale for Breyer and Stone horses. Despite all of the competitors, Breyer still dominates the forex market both for toy horses and collectibles.

zippy pets - Our organization was first introduced to the field of model horse toys in 2007 once we added the Breyer products to our store. Since we already carried plenty of other toys, we assumed these could be just another toy category. We were surprised last year when Breyer gave us a present of a few limited edition artist resins using a suggested expense of $300 each. We thought they might never sell but we were wrong. Our customers were desperate to pay that price because they were no longer yet another horse toy in their mind. These toy horses had on a completely new value as rare collectibles.

What began as a horse toy has changed into a full-blown hobby with a large number of devoted hobbyists worldwide.
