While I have liked eating curry all my life, I was in no way keen on cooking it until Madhur Jaffrey began her tv series inside the 1980s. Indian Cookery, as well as Madhur's other books, is not just a cookery book. There is lots of narrative covering every little thing from Indian eating habits to menus and what goes with what, facts about spices and what cooking equipment you need and how you can make tandoori chicken without the need of a tandoor.
