Why Toy Horses Are not only Horse Toys Anymore

pony pal stable - In about 1950, the initial toy horses were introduced in America. Ever since then, these toys have continued to grow in popularity. As you go along, toy horses became not just a horse toy. They had been a popular hobby that includes horse painting, photographing, prop and tack making, exhibiting and collecting valuable model horses.

pony cycle - Breyer capitalized around the growing collector hobby by introducing a spare time activity magazine in the 1970's. Chances are they launched the initial special edition artist resins model horses inside the 1980's. From the 1990's, the collectors hobby blossomed and continues to be extremely popular today. Special edition artist resins are freed now with restricted editions of a few hundred pieces, or in some instances only 50 pieces. These pieces usually sell out quickly. After these toy horses can be purchased out, they increase significantly in value in the collector's market.

By 1996, Breyer toy horses were no longer the only game around. Stone horses were introduced with horses equally as detailed, some would argue more detailed, than Breyer. While Breyer suits the huge toy market as well as the collector's market, Stone focuses more on limited edition collectibles. Other brands also entered the market including Hagen-Renaker Horses. Today, Schleich and Safari also provide detailed, hand-painted model horses. However, Schleich and Safari tend to be more common as toys instead of collectibles, perhaps due to the smaller size of their 1:24 scale horses compared to the larger 1:9 scale for Breyer and Stone horses. Despite every one of the competitors, Breyer still dominates this market for toy horses and collectibles.

pony pal stable - We was introduced to the field of model horse toys in 2007 once we added the Breyer products to the store. Because we already carried a lot of other toys, we assumed these will be merely another toy category. We were surprised last year when Breyer gave us a gift of a few limited edition artist resins having a suggested expense of $300 each. We thought they'd never sell but i was wrong. Our customers were wanting to pay that price since these weren't any longer yet another horse toy in their mind. These toy horses procured on the whole new value as rare collectibles.

What began being a horse toy has changed into a full-blown hobby with a large number of devoted hobbyists around the globe.
